Longhorn Parmesan Crusted Chicken is a delicious, restaurant-style dish featuring juicy grilled chicken breasts topped with a rich, cheesy Parmesan crust. This fan-favorite dish combines the smoky flavors of grilled chicken with a crispy, flavorful crust made of Parmesan, garlic, and a hint of ranch. Perfect for a family dinner, this dish pairs well with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

For the Parmesan Crust:

  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:

    • Preheat the grill or a stovetop pan over medium heat.
    • Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
    • Grill the chicken for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Make the Parmesan Crust:

    • In a small bowl, mix Parmesan cheese, Provolone cheese, panko breadcrumbs, melted butter, mayonnaise, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Broil the Chicken with the Crust:

    • Preheat your oven broiler to high.
    • Place the grilled chicken on a baking sheet. Spread the Parmesan crust mixture evenly over the top of each piece.
    • Broil for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden brown.
  • Serve Hot:

    • Remove from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, or a side salad.

Notes

  • You can bake the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes if you don’t have a grill.
  • For a crispier crust, add an extra tablespoon of panko breadcrumbs.
  • Substitute cheddar or mozzarella for a different cheesy twist.
  • Pair it with honey mustard sauce or ranch dressing for extra flavor.
